Restoran Wau Memang Wow!

Salam semua...Well, Selamat Bercuti ye kepada semua yang sedang bercuti Chinese New Year . Skola TK pun cuti seminggu jugak..Seronok sangat rasanya... Memandangkan cuti ni panjang, TK and family balik kampung ke KB and KL. Actually,we just came back from KB and tomorrow will be leaving KT for KL. BTW, cuaca di KT sangat baik 2-3 hari ni. Langit cerah..laut membiru. Ramai orang bercuti2 Malaysia di sini nampaknya.

Hari ni posting makanan lagi..about one of my favourite restaurants in KB that is "Restoran Wau". Restoran ni is at Jalan Tengku Petra Semerak, KB dekat dengan Riverview Hotel KB betul2 dalam town. TK suka makan di sini sebab resto ni bersih and they have lots of choices of food and rege makanannya pun berpatutan. Resto ni ada satu je cawangan kat KB and was opened setahun setengah yang lalu. Resto ni memang sentiasa ramai orang..

Menu kat situ Menu Fusion Malaysia...They have Kelantan traditional food, Malay food, Chinese food, Thai Food, Western food...macam2 ada..

Selain daripada roti nan, capati or roti canai, ada juga jenis2 roti yang biasa kita makan kat kopitiam. Ada juga desserts Melayu such as pengat pisang, pulut mangga, ABC dan macam2 lagi. Western desserts pun ada gak- ada cheese cake, blueberrry cake etc

Macam2 jenis nasi, kuey teow, mee...makes me fening kepala everytime nak order

Memang banyak choices of food tapi everytime pegi bukannya bole order banyak2 sangat sebab perut ni tak larat nak makan macam2 but you can see macam2 yg diorder oleh orang lain. Rasa nak try semua!!!

Resto ni serba putih. Ada 2 bahagian. Satu bahagian lagi kerusi rotan tapi TK tak amek gambar. Nampak bersih, neat and relax je kat sini

Maggi goreng- small portion je tapi takpe because kalau banyak pun tak larat nak habiskan..Maggi goreng ni RM4.50

Suka sangat Nasi Goreng Tomyam ni....RM7.00

This is my first posting for 2012!!! Hmm..mood blogging dah ke Laut China Selatan lately.....Hari ni cuaca panas langit cerah..kat KT ni ..baru je lepas banjir. Tahun ni dah a few times banjir nampaknya...

BTW, last weekend, we had breakfast in Marang . Once in a while kami cari breakfast jauh2 sikit dari rumah. On the way back home, we stopped at Marang town for a while that day- at the jetty. My hubby has never been there walaupun lalu sokmo situ..Orang Terengganu tau sangatlah kat mana tempat ni kan?

Pagi2 kat sini tenangnya..Took some photos kat situ..

Banyak sangat stray cats kat sini. Sesiapa cari kucing boleh datang sini..

...Ni dia antara breakfast kegemaran family kami..

JJCM at Times Square

We were at Times Square on Christmas Day, recently. Times Square is not my favourite shopping place, though. My daughter insisted on going to the 5th floor which is also NOT my kinda place...huhu. I was thinking of going shopping ONLY..tapi anak2 biasalah, they have their own plans and agenda kat 5th floor tu.. Anyway, I was surprised to see such a big crowd at Times Square. Selalunya lengang je TS ni.

That day, for makan-makan, we stopped for lunch at Vivo American Pizza and Panini which is at the lower ground floor. Vivo AP&P is not something new in Malaysia tapi banyak kat Klang Valley and Johor je. I actually wanted to have pizzas at Papa John's Pizza but PJP was jam packed with people..huhu..

Bila tengok menu kat Vivo, tiba2 tak rasa pulak nak makan pizza sebab banyak choices of food kan...and at very reasonable prices too

We just ordered small pizza sebab nak makan benda2 lain jugak. My daughter wanted pepperoni pizza. As for me, I lebih suka pizza kat Papa John dari pizza Vivo.

...and I only wanted this.......Dessert pun banyak choices..

Next, kenyang perut, kami jalan lagi....Jalan2 nampak kiosk PLANET POPCORN but I didn't snap the photo of the kiosk, okay, so no photo to share here..PLANET POPCORNS originates from Taiwan and is still new in Malaysia. There was a long queue at the kiosk..so I thought mesti sedap punye..For Malaysian market, the popcorns come from the factory at Taman Universiti Indah, Seri Kembangan. Ada tulis kat pamphlet...

Sebenarnya TK memang suka sgt popcorns. Jumpa kat mana2 mesti beli tak kiralah cap apa pun. I really loike popcorns a lot!!!!!. Hajat hati nak pegi juga cari Garret Popcorn tapi Garret Popcorn ada kat KLCC and One Utama je. BTW, Planet Popcorns pulak ada kat Sunway Piramid and Times Square je.

Ada free tasting kat kiosk Planet Popcorn. Boleh rasa dulu before beli. Popcornnya is not too sweet dan banyak flavours. Yang dalam bucket gambar di atas is cheese flavour dan dah dimakan sikit. Dalam bucket macam ni isinya banyak dan boleh simpan lama.

Ada tanda halal nampaknya..yang ni dalam vacum packing with re-sealable zipper. Isinya padat tapi gambar atas tu popcorn yg sudah dimakan..tinggal sikit je..

Among the flavours available are original, caramel, seaweed, curry, cheese, wasabi, chocolate and coffee. Harganya lain-lain mengikut flavours. Satu pack original flavour is at RM7.90. That day, flavours yang sedap macam seaweed and chocolate dah SOLD OUT!

Majlis Khatam Quran My Daughter

Wah ! Pejam celik pejam celik sekejap je dah nak bukak sekolah balik...TK pun dah ready nak masuk keje balik after the long holidays. Mood nak keje pun dah datang balik..Duduk rumah lama2 pun kadang2 bosan juga..

BTW, 2 weeks ago, my mother in law had organised a "majlis khatam quran" (reached the end of Quran) for the grandchildren including my daughter di Kota Bharu. Majlis khatam quran my daughter was totally planned and organised by my MIL. She invited the guests, prepared the gifts, arranged for the preparation of the food and etc. Tok Ma yang arranged semua sekali. TK ke Kota Bharu bawak balik anak je..Timakasih banyak2 to Tok Mama for everything! Actually, ini majlis khatam Quran kedua yg MIL buat untuk cucu2nya. Majlis pertama, about 6 years ago untuk cucu2nya yang sekarang dah pun sekolah menengah.

Majlis dimulakan dengan tazkirah pendek kepada 3 orang budak yang berkhatam tu dan juga untuk semua yang hadir. Ramai jugak sedara mara dan jiran yang hadir bersama ahli penamat seramai 15 orang. Kita memang sangat2 digalakkan menghadiri majlis khatam quran dan juga sunat bagi kita menjemput semua ahli keluarga, sedara mara, jiran tetangga dan sahabat handai. Majlis yang serba ringkas itu berlangsung selama lebih kurang sejam.

I saw my daughter( duduk kiri sekali) yawning 3 or 4 times macamtu... Nasib baik dia reti nak tutup mulut masa menguap....Lepas majlis, dia mengadu letih dan kebas kaki sebab duduk bersimpuh! Alhamdulillah, everything went well dan bagus juga dapat buat untuk 3 orang sekali..

My daughter and the cousins. Tema baju pun MIL yang decide. Kebetulan dorang semua dah ada jubah hitam. My daughter chose the tudung herself- nak yang byk manik2 gitu!

Gifts pun semua MIL beli dan siapkan.

Antara cenderahati yang MIL prepared adalah towel, some cash, bunga telur and makanan seperti baulu, agar2 and pulut kuning.

Menu of the day was Kelantan traditional dishes - kerutub kambing, gulai darat daging, sira labu, ayam goreng and acar timun. Dulu2 I tak pandai makan sira labu tapi sekarang sangat2 suka..

BTW, untuk memahirkan lagi bacaan Al-quran, my daughter gunakan earphone untuk mendengar bacaan Al-Quran digital. Memang sangat berkesan. Tiap2 hari dia pasang kat telinga. Sekarang bacaan dia bertambah-tambah baik.

Well, that's all for now, selamat mempersiapkan anak2 untuk sessi persekolahan 2012.

Ayam Penyet Ria Sg Wang Plaza

I am back in KT after spending a few days at my mom's place. Sempatlah juga pegi makan ayam penyet, signature dish Jawa Timur yang popular sangat kat Malaysia sekarang ni. Kopitiam pun dah kalah.. Restoran Ayam Penyet AP now dah ada 18 branches. Ayam Penyet Ria pun dah banyak cabangnya (branches). Tu tak termasuk restoran2 yg lainnya. Ramailah toke2 restoran Indonesia yg kaya raya bukak restoran ayam penyet kat Malaysia ye...

At Ayam Penyet Ria's (an authentic Indonesian restaurant) new branch at Concourse level, Sg Wang Plaza, Bukit Bintang. AP Ria ni kat sebelah Subway tu je. My children lebih suka LELE penyet dari Subway sandwiches!! BTW, budak tembam ni is my niece, Qadeja- suruh dia jadi model jap..Dia memang suka bab2 posing ni.

Actually TK dan anak2 memang suka apa2 je yang terpenyet ni..ayam penyet, lele penyet, udang penyet...hehe...First time TK makan ayam goreng Indonesian style ni kat Surabaya in 2003. My brother in law dulu belajar kat Surabaya and when we visited him in Surabaya, dia bawak kami pegi makan ayam goreng Nyonya Suharti yg sangat popular kat Indonesia (ada byk branches all over Indonesia termasuk kat Bandung). Start dari situ TK jadi kemaruk hidangan crispy fried chicken Indonesian style ni especially ayam goreng Nyonya Suharti.

At Ayam Penyet Ria Sg Wang- Waitresses sekarang semua Philippine ladies who can't speak Malay..susah sikitlah nak berkomunikasi.

Some of penyet dishes in the menu at AP Ria -Ayam Penyet( Fried chicken), Lele Penyet ( fried cat fish), Udang Penyet ( fried prawn) Empal Penyet (Beef)) and etc.

Ayam Penyet literally means smashed chicken and refers to fried chicken that is flattened/smashed, usually with a mallet. The meal here consists of the crispy smashed fried chicken ,some vegetables, fried beancurd and beancake (fermented soybeans) served with white rice , hot chilli sambal and soup.

Lele Penyet (smashed fried catfish) which is my son's favourite.

Gado-gado (Indonesian salad and dressing combination) - I must say that Gado-gado at Nyonya Suharti tastes much better..huhu. Rindunya nak makan kat Nyonya Suharti!!!

Orang yang pertama habeskan nasi ialah anak sedara TK yg montok ni but she only had plain rice. Dia tak makan lauk2 semua..Seronok bawak Qadeja jalan2. Meriah sangat dengan mulutnya yang pok pek pok pek tu...

Habis licin I makan..berasap telinga makan sambal tu! The sambal is really super hot!!!Pedas sangat weii!!

Banjir Warning Red Stage

Long time no see, here..... No story to share lah....

It has been a week since the school holidays. Here in KT, it's raining cats and dogs..hujan memanjang wei! This morning , the Malaysian meteorological department issued heavy rain warning (red stage) until tomorrow- 25th of November .

Really, there's nothing much to do here, during the monsoon season.

Outdoor activity is definitely a NO..NO..Memang tak sesuai langsung.......We are stucked here at home....It rains all the time. Sometimes dah boring sgt, I main game "BURUNG MARAH" tau!!!

Anak2 pun tak kemana. So, most of the time they would play games or watch TV...Bila dah boring main game, they would pick a fight... Lepas gaduh..mengadu laparlah pulak. So, makanan kena sentiasa prepare..So, basically keje mama sepanjang cuti ni ialah memasak dan meleraikan pergaduhan!

BTW, petang semalam, I went to UMT (Univ Malaysia Tganu) kejap..ada hal sikit. Belakang UMT tu ada beach kan......dah terhakis habis dah....such terrible beach erosion...dek kerana laut yg ditambak tu. I stopped at the beach for a while to snap some photos. Ramai gak students UMT lepak2 tgok ombak yg kuat tu!

Breakfast In Marang

Hari tu, in one of my previous posts entitled "Cheese Tart" , I mentioned about a pregnant friend of mine who craved for cheese tarts. Kawan I yg mengidam tu dah pun melahirkan anaknya through a C-section ...The c-section was performed 3 days ago but unfortunately there were some complications..Now, this friend of mine is in the ICU and she has been there for 3 days now. Yesterday I visited her for the first time and her situation really worries me. My friend is still unconcious and looking at her condition, I menangis tersedu-sedan dalam bilik ICU tu semalam. It must be very hard for the husband. Dia dan saya sama2 takde sedara mara di sini. Her family is on their way here from KL . Hopefully she'll be better soon...Kesian baby dia tak dapat dipeluk dan disusukan ibunya lagi....She gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 4.25 kg. Begitulah pengorbanan ibu bertarung nyawa nak melahirkan anak. Bole tahan jugak besar baby dia...Semoga my friend tu cepat sembuh..I nak sgt tgok semalam baby dia tapi tak dibenarkan. Only the parents are allowed to see the baby..

Cerita hari ni pulak..., this morning, we had breakfast at Marang. Jarang2 kami ke sana sebab jauh..tapi anak2 mintak nak makan nasi berlauk kat tempat favourite dorang kat Gerai Mak Uda ni. Kedai ni mengadap laut kat Marang tu.

Best makan breakfast mengadap laut...Walaupun laut tak berapa tenang di musim tengkujuh ni....jiwa ni rasa tenang melihat kebesaran Allah...

Kat Gerai Mak Uda, lauknya...ikan merah dan ikan keringnya ikan talang. Jarang ada kedai guna ikan merah untuk nasi berlauk. Biasanya ikan tongkol (ikan ayer). Sayurnya pulak ada nenas, bendi dan timun. Kat kedai lain bisanya ada timun je.. BTW, nasi berlauk ni makanan breakfast orang Kelantan tapi kat Terengganu pun senang jumpa. Yg susah jumpa ialah yang betul2 sedap cam kat Gerai Mak Uda ni..

Nasi Berlauk kat sini walaupun mahal sikit tapi puas hati sebab sedap sangat!!!

Musim Buah and JJCM di KB

Hi everyone..sejuknya lately. It's wet and cold here... Seems like the monsoon season is here as we have been getting lots of rain lately. Hujan mencurah2 membasahi bumi....

Well, I think now is also the fruit season here in the east coast. In the villages (in Kelantan), you can find lots of fruits- rambutan, dokong, duku or salak (snake fruit). Kat rumah my MIL ada jugak beberapa batang pokok buah2 - salak, rambutan, dokong kat belakang rumah dia..So last week, my MIL asked us to come home to KB - suruh kami balik amek buah2an tu. Kalau tak , takde sape nak makan...

Banyak sangat MIL bawakan buah salak ni. Memang saya tak termakan so saya bagi kawan2. Tiap2 kali musim buah salak, kawan2 pun memang dah tunggu sebab salak ni memang special. The snake fruit is sooo sweeet...manis and sangat sedap! Tak kelat langsung!

Dokong baru nak mula masak....Timakasihlah to Ma dan Abah yang susah2 bawakkan kami buah2an-rambutan, dokong, salak... Saya tau makan je...hehe... Nak kutip buah punyalah malas...

Next, as usual, bila balik KB, teringinlah nak JJCM sana sini and as usual I would stop at my favourite eateries........Usually I would be the one who decide where to stop and what to eat (macamlah balik kampung saya!). Hubby saya ikut saya je..sedia memenuhi permintaan... Petang tu sebelum balik KT, we stopped at Yati Nasi Kerabu at Jalan Long Yunus.

Kuih muih at Yati Nasi Kerabu byk sgt................rambang mata.... I was so greedy....semua saya nak...hehe. Amek itu amek ini..I bought about 10 items- kuih, pulut and etc. Then baru saya teringat..anak saya tinggal sorang je kat rumah..ish..ish..Siapa yang nak habeskan byk2 kuih tu..?

CHEESE TART

Lama sungguh tak update blog. For sooo many reasons (tak tertulis kat sini).. I was not able to update my blog for quite some time....but I do miss blogging so much! Miss you all (blogger friends) so much too! Eventhough I was not able to update, aktiviti blog walking tetap berjalan tau! I did stop at your blogs .... I mesti baca your blogs tau! Always... Kalau tak baca tak sah sebab dah terbiasa baca blog kengkawan, some I have known for a few years. Apa2 pun, thousand apologize because I could not leave comments at your blogs .

Posting kali ni, I just want to share cerita tentang cheese tarts and nak tolong promosi sekali.....Last week, a friend of mine who is 9 months pregnant, craved for cheese tarts. The problem is, rumah pembuat cheese tart ni is quite a distance from her house. Kat bakeries mmg ada cheese tarts ni but she only wanted cheese tarts made by this particular lady. She did asked her hubby to get the cheese tarts for her tapi hubby dia kata, rumah org tu jauh so tak dapek nak nolong dia. When she called me and told me about it, I told her that I would get the cheese tarts for her and of course I pun nak tumpang makan skali!!... Lagipun, kawan I ni mengidam..kan. Kesian dia..Bila beritau my hubby, my hubby kata, permintaan org mengidam haruslah ditunaikan!

Ni dia, blueberry and strawberry cheese tart yang mak buyung nak ...Memang sedap sangat..sangat cheese tart ni, jenis bila dah start makan tak bole stop..cheese tart nya comel2 je.. 3 kali ngap, 4 kali ngap tak rasa puas lagi..sedar2 dah habis! I bawakkan sikit untuk officemates hubby. The next day terus dpt order nak cheese tart ni sebyk RM100 - hubby cakap geng2 office like the tarts very much and nak mkn lagi. As for my colleagues, ramai siap dah order for Raya Haji.

Yang ni plak fruit tart I myself yang mengidam, juga order dgn D'nanies - siap dihantar ke rumah.

Pembuat cheese tart ni ada blog-D'NANIES . Sesape duduk area KT bolehlah order kat D'nanies ni- no phone dia semua ada kat blog. Cheese tarts dia memang sooodap!!! Macam2 lagi bole order from D'nanies ni..apam polka dot, kuih belimbing, cream puff, cakes , puddings and etc. Jauh2 pun bole order - dia akan pos.

Ada sesape lagi yang mengidam???..meh I belanja!

Soup In Bread

Soup in bread anyone??

Hi peeps! Harap semua kawan-kawan sihat walafiat and happy selalu. Lately ni, kita ni jarang2 ada kat bloggingland so banyak miss perkembangan kawan2. Hari ni free, baru boleh posting and jalan sana sini...

In this post, again, I would like to share photos of food. Dah lama all these photos remained as draft so hari ni dipublishkan aje..

About 2 months ago, I was at Low Yatt Plaza when I spotted the EspresSoup kiosk.

What actually attracted my attention was the way they decorated the kiosk. Dorang susun roti2 tu depan kiosk tu. The bread is actually called farmer bread and made from wheat and rye flour. Bila nampak roti tu, teringin pulak nak rasa soup in bread tu. So, we ordered 2 types of soup.. Actually ada a few choices of soup to choose from..clam chowder, pumpkin soup, mushroom soup dan lain2 lagi..tak ingat da..

Yang ni tak igt soup apa..lupa daa. Roti kena tebuk..banjir sudah..

Cara2 nak makan...

You can either have soup only or soup in bread... oklah kan the prices of the food?

Makanan lain dalam menu pun not bad at all. Murah pulak tu.

Soup in bread tu makan 3 orang pun bole. Sangat mengenyangkan. I dok imagine kalau roti mangkuk tu sumbat ngan ice-cream okay jugak kan?

Nasi Mandy

It has been almost 3 weeks since my previous post..been very busy lately. Ada rumah kawan2 yg tak sempat visit lagi. Thousand apologize.... Today my post is about food again..can't help it!!! Memang TK suka makan..

I have always love Mandy rice. Walaupun Mandy rice ni simple je, I just love it. While in Mecca recently, I did try Mandy rice at a few eateries nearby our hotel.

One of the restaurants near our hotel is Khorasania restaurant. Sorry, I don't know the name of the street where the restaurant is situated. It's opposite an Al-Rajhi bank and next to the bank is a candy store. BTW, Khorasania is just a small restaurant and there is only a table just enough for six persons. The restaurant only serves mandy rice. Itu je..

Mandy is usually made from meat (lamb or chicken), basmati rice, and a mixture of spices. Sedap sangat nasi mandy ni..Memang terbaek! It's a big portion, makan berdua pun tak abes!! Last weekend while we were in Kuala Lumpur, TK teringin sangat nak makan nasi Mandy lagi so we stopped to have dinner at the new Al -Rawsha restaurant near Kg Pandan roundabout. Their old restaurant was at Jalan Damai off Jalan Ampang. The new restaurant is really huge and looks like a castle. Cantik sangat restaurant baru Al-Rawsha ni..Selain dari Al-Rawsha, TK rajin juga singgah restoran Tarbush dan Al-Diafah di KL atau AM Tarbush di Kota Bharu utk makan nasi Mandy. Memang suka sgt makan nasi Mandy...

Salam to all dear friends. I'm back! Miss you all so much! Maaf sangat2 sebab tak singgah blog kawan2 or bertanya khabar. Terimakasih kepada kawan2 blogger yang singgah dan bertanya khabar. Terharu.. ada jugak orang ingat kita.

Actually TK baru je balik dari mengerjakan Umrah. Alhamdulillah, syukur kepada Allah sepanjang berada di tanah suci, TK dikurniakan kesihatan yang baik dan kekuatan untuk menjalankan ibadah walaupun cuaca sangat panas mencecah 48 C. Ramai dikalangan rakan seperjalanan yang sakit tekak, selsema dan demam. Almost everyday di Makkah TK suka makan aiskrim tapi alhamdulillah takde masalah sakit tekak dan sebagainya. TK juga make sure hari2 minum air zam-zam dengan banyaknya. Insyaallah air zam-zam sangat baik untuk kesihatan. Air zamzam mempunyai banyak khasiat dan kelebihan seperti sabda Nabi Muhammad SAW bermaksud: "Sebaik-baik air di permukaan bumi adalah air zamzam".

Pengalaman berada di tanah suci bagi TK tersangat indah dan menginsafkan. Ianya perjalanan paling bermakna dalam hidup TK dan TK akan sentiasa berdoa agar dapat ke sana lagi selepas ini jika panjang umur. Di depan Kaabah, TK juga doakan untuk kawan2 blogger semua. Semoga kawan-kawan akan sampai ke sana juga dan bagi kawan2 yang dah ke sana TK doakan semoga akan berpeluang lagi menjadi tetamu Allah di Tanah Suci.

Semangat Nak Lose Weight

Last Friday, I strolled along Batu Burok beach and then went jogging at Batu Burok jogging track - my favourite things to do during my weekend here in KT. It has been months since I went there! Batu Burok beach is only 5 minutes drive from my house but I seldom get the chance to go there due to lots of reasons!! Kalau tak rajinkan diri memang tak sampai situ..Tiba2 je hari tu, rasa semangat nak pegi beriadah/ exercise bila pegi blog workout JOY dan blog KAK AZMIEZAS . I got inspired after reading about them losing weight.

Here are some photos I took at the beach last weekend...Sambil brisk walk and jogging hari tu sambil2 ambik gambar which is also my hobby.

Just love to be at the beach in the morning when the sea is very calm. Sun rises seems to be my favourite time. It's really an amazing peaceful experience being at the beach

Joined aerobic routine for a while (sebab dah letih) but I was sweating profusely. Seronok jugak..Ramai sgt orang join aerobic kat sini every friday tak kira men or women. Yg dukung baby pun ada..

As the day got got hotter, we left Batu Burok jogging track and headed straight to town to have our breakfast. Lepas exercise terus cari nasi..ish..ish.. I had nasi kerabu ayam bakar at a stall in Ladang. The stall serves the best nasi kerabu in town! It's also one of the reasons why it's very hard for me to lose weight..huhu! That was how I spent my Friday morning here in KT kalau tak balik ke KB or KL.

Home-Made Ice-Cream

It's really hot nowadays. When I looked over the ocean this morning, I saw the sunrise and I noticed that the sun was shining so bright!! Merah betul matahari masa sunrise semenjak dua menjak ni!! It's a sure sign of warmer days ahead.. Panas betul tau sekarang tapi normallah. Bulan April memang panas macam ni.....

Since we are having ice-cream weather here, kawan2 TK kat sekolah suruh TK buat aiskrim for us to have in the afternoon. Di musim2 panas ni, the best way to beat the heat is an ice-cream treat.... So, yesterday, I made some ice-cream and brought it to school today..

One of my colleagues taught me the simplest way of making delicious homemade ice-cream. You don't even need ice-cream maker.Cuma blend 1 litre strawberry flavoured milk (ikut sukahati nak perisa apa) , a packet of cofee - mate creamer and a few tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk (susu pekat manis). I buat tak manis sgt sebab 2 orang kawan diabetic. Kenalah consider kawan2 yang kena jaga pengambilan gulanya..Lepas blend, pour the mixture into a container and place it in the freezer.

Next, blend the ice-cream again as it freezes to get the soft texture. You can do it twice or thrice. I also added some strawberries. Bole tambah apa saje sesuka hati. Lepas blend for the second or third time (as you wish) let it freeze . Itu sahaja!

Selera Kampung

Lately ni..TK selalu travel to Hulu Terengganu to see my son. My son had just transferred to a boarding school in Kuala Berang, about 3 weeks ago. I jugaklah yg pindahkan dia from my school to the new school. The school is situated in Kg. Tajin which is about 40 minutes drive from my house in KT.

To get to the school, we would usually take the route from KT to Manir and straight to Kg Tajin because it's nearer .On the way, we would pass by many small villages including a village called Kampung Imam Lapar- such unique name..

2 weeks ago, before we sent him to the school, we stopped at our favourite restaurant in Kuala Berang - Restoran Selera Kampung in Kg Telaga about 5 minutes drive from the school. The restaurant which serves Malay traditional dishes and varieties of local freshwater fish is quite popular in Kuala Berang. Sebelum2 ni pun kami memang suka ke situ. I know a lot of people do not like the taste of freshwater fish but anak2 TK pulak beghehi (suka) sangat..!!

At the restaurant, the prices of fish per kg are displayed . Murahkan harga ikan kelah tu...hehe!! Eloklah pelanggan tahu harga makanan. Taklah terkezut bila tengok bil....

Ikan Patin and Ikan Baung masak tempoyak . Ikan patin kat sini ni bukan dari jenis yg mahal. Rasanya kalau makan byk2 pun tak sampai ribu2.

Alhamdulillah, the weather is getting back to normal here in KT. The sun is shining brightly. We can see the blue sky and the blue sea again. Minggu ni tak hujan lebat dah..We don't get heavy rain anymore and I guess the monsoon season is finally over (I hope so) . Bila banjir kesian orang yang kena berpindah and my students pun ramai yang tak datang ke sekolah kalau hujan lebat.

Well, I think this is the best time to visit Terengganu or have island holidays here. It's getting hotter now in KT...sometimes it's too hot!!! Bila panas, tak tahanlah pulak..Berpeluh2 ketiak!!

Yesterday, we stopped at our neighbour's restaurant, The Pilgrim Restaurant and Grill to have something cold and refreshing during a hot day. Suka pegi situ. Semuanya sedap!

Durian Dan Banjir!

Heavy rain since yesterday has caused flooding in several areas all over Terengganu including KT. Pagi tadi hujan lebat sangat2, I reached school about an hour late and ramai lagi yang lebih lambat. Most of us were stranded in a terrible traffic jam this morning due to the flood. Harap hujan tak berpanjangan lagi. Dah almost sebulan hujan lebat kat sini.

Hujan2 ni, perut lapar je. Biasanya musim hujan orang makan ubi tapi kami makan durianlah pulak. I bought some durians, D13 and D101 at Pasar Payang yesterday (beli dalam hujan) for the 3rd time this week. My daughter loves durian so much! Hari2 merayu mintak ayah dia beli.. I was told by the durian sellers that the durians are from Segamat, Johor. Durian Segamat memang sedap tapi taklah fresh sgt bila dah sampai ke KT ni.......

Last week, when we reached Kuala Lumpur, we headed straight to Kg Baru...Jalan2 cari makan... Kg Baru memang food haven kan? We were so starving actually and decided to have Thai food at Rosdet Tomyam restaurant. It's actually one of our favourite Thai restaurants in Kg Baru. Byk sgt 'rumah makan' Thai kat Kg Barukan... 2 weeks before that, we had been there u noe.. but unfortunately, we couldn't find a parking space and the restaurant was so packed with people. Takde tempat duduk!. We might have to wait for some time to be seated. Punyalah kecewa masa tu. Last week, we went there again on a weekday so there were not many people around. Sempat borak2 dengan tukang masak lagi yg duduk2 lepak sementara tunggu order..Selalunya kami pegi waktu ramai orang, kelibat tukang masak pun kami tak pernah nampak..

I love Thai food at Rosdet ni especially their pandan chicken - the best I've ever had..!! The price of food at RT is also reasonable! The service is also excellent. Cepat sgt dorang masak-tak tunggu lama. Satu je yang kurang .. they don't serve desserts . TK loves Thai desserts so much. Kalau nak makan Thai food dengan desserts yang macam2 you have to go to Lala Restaurant in Kg Baru. Restoran tu pun best jugak..

One Beautiful Day

Hi peeps! I am back! Sekolah cuti, blog pun bercuti juga. I spent my school holidays visiting my families - my mom, my sisters, aunties, ipar duai and attending weddings. While on holidays, I really did not have much time for blogging. Tu yang terabai je blog ni.. I also missed some of your posts while I was on holiday and now I am trying my best to catch up....

It has also been more than a week since the quake and Tsunami in Japan but we are all still so grief stricken over the loss and the scale of devastation. I heard that the effects spread deep into Japan..My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Japan including my two blogger friends Nana and Mami. To Nana - semoga Nana and family okay di sana and segala urusan dipermudahkan..

When Tsunami hit Japan on 11th of March, we were alerted on the high waves and the rising sea water.. It was indeed a frightful moment for us when we were told that Tsunami might reach Terengganu. The police officers were everywhere in town warning the public to stay away from the beaches. Yang tgh jogging kat Pantai Batu Buruk pun were told to to go home. Suspen jugak ye kalau duduk tepi laut ni. My office is only 200 metres from the sea. Rumah pun dekatlah juga. I was quite worried actually and we left KT for KB. Memang masa tu kecoh jugaklah kat KT ni.

Well, in this post, I want to share some photos I took on my way back to KB from KT more than 2 weeks ago (before Tsunami) when the sun shone brightly. It was a beautiful day with blue sky and blue sea. It has been raining now in KT since Tsunami. Sometimes sgt. lebat macam musim tengkujuh. Usually we don't get that much rain in March.

We stopped at Penarik beach and had a picnic. The weather was really nice. Otak2 ni sgt sedap. Beli sikit je hari tu dan sgt menyesal...

Sepanjang jalan, we passed by beautiful beaches, peaceful villages, tobacco farms and paddy fields.
Masa tu baru nak mula musim timun.. Melons are in season. We also stopped to buy melons.
Byk lori membawa timun Cina @ tembikai We bought Timun Betik. It's a type of melon which we call "Timun Betik" or "Papaya Melon".

We usually have the melon with coconut milk and palm sugar or if you fear cholesterol, you can have it with fresh milk. All types of melons are great sources of vitamin C. They are also a good source of potassium and are low in calories, low in cholesterol as well as being fat free.

Dalam perjalanan, we stopped a few times, beli itu ini - banyak makanan, kuih, buah-buahan, fish and seafood. Pemandangan pun cantik. I have always love the view of the countryside. Suasana kampung yang sangat menenangkan jiwa. Syukur kepada Allah atas segala nikmatnya...

The Pilgrim Restaurant and Grill

Oooppss..food entry again?....This time around I'll take you to a restaurant in KT pulak. My next door neighbour, Chef Muhammad Ridzuan Ang and his wife had just opened a new restaurant. His new restaurant, The Pilgrim Restaurant and Grill which serves Malay, Chinese and Eurasian cuisine is at Desa Sri Bayas Permai, Bukit Bayas, Kuala Terengganu(kat area Pasir Panjang). Pilgrim restaurant is actually their second restaurant. Their first restaurant, Al Hijrah Oasis which serves Malay and Halal Chinese food is quite popular here in KT and gives them a 5 figure income monthly. The first restaurant nampak simple je, kampung style, takde aircond ke apa.. tapi is always packed with people especially during the school holidays and hari gaji. Their second restaurant, The Pilgrim R&G was only opened a week ago. The restaurant is a two storey building (warna kuning) in Desa Sri Bayas Permai. Restoran baru ni ada air -cond and the staffs pakai uniform gitu..

When I entered the restaurant yesterday, I saw my other neighbours as well. Ye la, as neighbours, kita kenalah support dia kan.. and we are so lucky that we have a chef in our housing area. He loves to cook and share with the neighbours. Kalau bahagian masak2 ni semua buat kat rumah dia. I tumpang makan je.. Masakan dia sedap2 pulak tu...That day I ordered their set meal of the day which comprises of pasta soup, Mediterranean beef with orange sauce @ oriental chicken chop, potato wedges, choc moist cake with ice-cream and a cup of coffee. Semua2 ni RM19.90.

At the restaurant, Chef Ridzuan prepared the food on his own with the help of his staffs. Mayonnaise ke, soup ke dia buat sendiri bukan tuang dari tin or botol. So, the soup doesn't taste like the canned soup. It's really tasty..

Makan-Makan di KB

Salam everyone. Today is a beautiful day. It has been raining since morning. So thankful for the rain. Dah lama tak hujan macam ni.. Sejuk sikit hari ni..!

Last weekend, we were in KB, visiting our parents. Macam biasa if we are in KB, the main agenda would be, makan-makanlah. Terpaksalah lupakan agenda diet mendiet tu kejap. While we were somewhere in Kubang Kerian, we stopped at a kopitiam for tea. The Kopitiam - D'Klasik White Coffee is near USM hospital in Kubang Kerian. It was our first time at the kopitiam which is quite popular in the area. I jarang2 pegi area ni sebenarnya...

D'Klasik kopitiam from the main road. It's near USM Kubang Kerian Hospital. This area is quite crowded. The whole KB memang bole tahan sangat busy especially during the school holidays.

Found out that they also have Bandung Cincau with Jagung - something which I haven't tried before ... tapi tak berani nak cuba juga.

My daughter ordered the chicken chop. I only had white coffee and sikit kaya toast ...control la sikit kan. We just had lunch a few hours before that. My son ordered Tiramisu White coffee which is really good!!

Yang special kat Kopitiam ni is that they have many choices of local, western and Thai food in the menu. They also have cakes and pastries besides the the different kinds of toast.

Macam2 nasi ada! They also have claypot and sizzling food.. The kopitiam has just everything!! Banyak sungguh makanan in the menu.

Maybe next time, I'll stop at D'Klasik White Coffee again. Would love to try all those delicious looking food in the menu and share the photos here.

Before we went to the kopitiam, we had lunch at one of our favourite Nasi Kukus (steamed rice) restaurants in Kota Bharu - Nasi Kukus Zawanie at 359, Jalan Sultanah Zainab, Kota Bharu . Kat sinilah TK dah makan kenyang2 . No diet2 dah hari tu, my dear Cheqna. Konon2 je nak diet!!Well, here in the East Coast, steamed rice is a favourite. Kat Terengganu pun ada....

I especially love Gulai Ikan Merah and the grilled chicken. Really delicious!!! Actually we went there for their sambal sotong tapi malangnya takde hari tu. When we reached home, my MIL had already prepared a lot of food for us. So kita makan lagi dan lagi...

Satu lagi yang byk kat KB - si Mas Hitam!!! My favourite mango is Mas Hitam and now is the mango's peak season.Kalau datang KB masa ni, bolehlah beli mangoes yang murah.. .

Sports Day

Hi everyone! It has been more than a week since I last updated my blog. Thousand apologies because I have been neglecting my blog duties lately. Sibuk sikit...Today, I saw a message from MAYA at the comment box. Everytime TK lama sikit tak update blog, Maya mesti dropped by tanya khabar. Terharulah..ada jugak org ingat kat kita. I am fine, thank you Maya. TQ ingat TK!

Today, I just wanna share with you all gambar2 sukan sekolah my daughter and my school. In Feb or March memang biasanya musim sukan sekolah2. My daughter's school's sports day was held last Saturday. She was really excited about it because her school sports day would only take place biennially. 2 tahun sekali je.

This year my daughter represented the yellow house. Masa darjah 1 rumah Biru. Tengok tu bunga manggar dorang. Pakai daun betik je... My daughter's school - SR Ibnu Qayyim takde padang sekolah. So it was held at padang Kampung Laut.

Semalam jalan2 kat Screaming Mommy, I read her post about Impiana Cherating ni. Hari ni I pulak nak share gambar2 kat Impiana Cherating ni. Gambar2 ni dah dekat 2 bulan diperap tapi baru nak posting.

Well, the first time I stayed at Impiana Resort Cherating was about 9 years ago and I was there for a meeting( used to work in Pahang for 4 years).Teringat dulu2 masa ngajar kat Pahang byk kena attend meetings and courses everywhere in Pahang. Jauh2 pulak tu tempat meetingnya- dari Kuantan ke Genting Highland, ke Bukit Fraser, ke Cameron Highland and sampai ke Rompin. Seronok jumpa ramai kawan2 from all over Pahang and at the same time dapat cover semua interesting places in Pahang.

After 9 years, I was there again at Impiana Cherating 2 months ago for an unplanned holiday. Hubby had a meeting in Kuantan and at the last minute he decided to take us along. I chose to stay at Impiana sebab tempat tu nostalgialah konon. Just felt like visiting the place again. After 9 years, the hotel still looks the same to me and I love the place..still....It's really a nice place to relax and unwind. Tak crowded and it's also a fun place for children. They can enjoy kite flying, swimming in the pool, cycling or just have fun at the beach.... Eventhough the sea was a little rough at that time , the air was cool and refreshing and we did enjoy our stay at Impiana.

The beach- home to exotic sea turtles..From May to September you might get a chance to see the turtles . Di musim tengkujuh, kalau nak main2 pasir kat beach tu bolelahkan..Kalau nak mandi manda memang nak cari pasal...bahaya!

Nasi lemak and mee mamak wrapped in banana leaf. Tu je la yg specialnya. Instead of cedok nasinya, dorang dah bungkus siap2 dalam daun pisang. Buffet spread for breakfast was okaylah tapi tak byk choice sgt. Kalau nak keluar cari breakfast outside pun bole jugak.

Tak taulah bila nak bercuti2 Pahang lagi..Bandar Kuantan pun dah bertahun-tahun tak singgah..rindu nak pegi tapi tak sempat nak menyinggah..

During one of the evenings in KL recently, my son told me that he wanted to have steamboat meal for dinner. He said that he would prefer to have steamboat buffet at Restoran Nelayan Titiwangsa. Kebetulan kami tak jauh dari situ so we said oklah. Tersengih2 je dorang..Actually, dorang suka ke situ because they wanted to see the huge catfishes and terrapins at the restaurant . Tu je.. My children ni ..pantang jumpa zoo, petshops ke..or mana2 tempat yg ada binatang mmg suka sgtlah dorang..The other reason is because they wanted to watch the remote control car race near the restaurant..

BTW, Nelayan Titiwangsa is a restaurant with panoramic view of Lake Titiwangsa and with 500 pax capacity. You can eat inside in air-conditioned comfort, or in the partially open-air wooden dining hall, cooled by fans and misters.They also provide for wedding reception, corporate dinners, birthday functions, family dinner and etc .

This huge restaurant is spread over a series of stilt houses separated by water features and ponds. There are some really huge catfish and terrapins kat situ ..

As soon as you take your seat, they will serve pickled mango and some peanuts. Peanuts nya dah habis licin..

The steamboat buffet at the restaurant includes a selection of Malay cuisine and a variety of steamboat items including seafood such as shrimps, crabs and stingrays.

While the steamboat (hot pot) is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table.

The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce

So, those were the food that I had.. Of course ada makanan lain for the steamboat buffet - mostly the Malay cuisine--noodles, rice and all the Malay traditional dishes. Macam biasalah, menu dia macam sama je dari dulu2 tapi yg penting the price is very reasonable and mengenyangkan. Kami selalunya makan steamboatnya sahaja . Make sure pegi dgn perut lapar barulah puashati makan kan..

Nearby the restaurant, there is a remote-controlled car racing track where enthusiasts stage miniature Formula 1 during day and night. Kereta semua kecik cinonet dan sangat laju. Malam-malam best jugak lepak kat tasik Titiwangsa ni .KLCC nampak cantik dari situ..

I tak abes2 lagi dgn my Jakarta Bandung entry. So this will be the last onelah ye..

Selain dari bershopping ke Pasar Baru(wajib pergi) and all the factory outlets in Bandung, you can also go for shopping at the shopping malls in the city.One of my favourite shopping malls in Bandung is Paris Van Java Mall at Jalan Sukajadi. I especially love the rest room (of all the things!) at the mall which is very unique- cantik sangat! Unfortunately, I don't have the picture to share. Kat mall ni ada SOGO juga.. Ada banyak lagi malls lain kat Bandung. Kalau nak pegi semuanya memang tak sempat. I usually go to Paris Van Java Mall and Chihampelas Walk..

There are also many eateries at the mall. You can also find Manchester United Restaurant and Bar here. Semua kedai-kedai makan kat sini cantik2 sangat deconya..If only I boleh masuk semuanya..

We also had lunch at a restaurant which serves Thai food. Masa tu dah rindu sgt nak makan makanan yang kita biasa makan kat Malaysia..

Yesterday, while I was at the market, I saw buah Kundang (as I call it) at a fruit stall in the market. Buahnya besar-besar gedabak dan oren..geram menengoknya....kecur air liur. I have never seen such big buah kundang . As soon as my daughter saw it at the market, she said "Mama I want it! Please...". Siap please..please lagi tu. I asked for the price and to my surprise, I was told it's RM25 per kg! Mahal wei!! Washington Epal pun tak semahal tu!!!

Actually, memang harganya begitu, here in KT but in Kelantan it's only half the price. Maybe because Kelantan is nearer to Thailand where the fruits come from. Despite the price, I still bought it because my daughter said pleaseee..pleaseee.... I pun suka buah ni. Bukannya selalu makan pun.

The fruit is called Marian Plum or Plum Mango in English or Ma-praang in Thailand and it's native to South East Asia . Marian Plum is also grown in northern part of Malaysia. In Thailand, Marian Plum is in season only for a short period of time that is from January to March. Patutlah pun banyak kat pasar sekarang ni. In Malaysia, the fruit is called buah kundang due to the violet seeds. Violet is ' biru kundang' in Malay language. If I'm not mistaken in northern Malaysia the fruit is called buah Setar. Kena minta kepastian orang Utara ni..I am not sure what is it called in Terengganu- kena tanya org Terengganu juga ni...

It's a mini sized mango and the outer skin is edible . Bila gigit rasa rangup kulitnya...tu yang best tu..

As I had promised, here are photos at Kampung Sampireun (Sampireun village) Resort and Spa. Anthony Bourdain stayed here in Kampung Sampiruen while he was in Garut. Kampung Sampiruen is situated at Chiparay village in Garut and it is a resort with the touch of a traditional Sundanese village .

Kampung Sampiruen is a truly romantic place and it's a top honeymoon location. Nak ke mana2, bolehlah naik sampan. Kalau I mendayung sampan tu, sure terhegeh2, takut tak sampai je ke seberang sana..

Jakarta Bandung Part 4

Well, I am sorry.... I am still not done with my Jakarta Bandung Trip entries. Kira ni Postcards From Indonesia lah ye.... Actually, I have a lot of photos to share but I am a bit slow when it comes to editing my photos and also my post. Suka edit sana edit sini.. and it seems that most of my posts remain as drafts, forever.

This time around, I want to share with all of you photos I took at Garut, a popular tourist destination near Bandung. Garut is about 2 hours drive from Bandung city and is located in a mountainous area. Thus, the weather in Garut is a bit cooler than in other parts of Indonesia. In the 1930s, Garut was a favored hill station of the Dutch. I actually found out about Garut after watching Anthony Bourdain's trip to Garut on You Tube . Tau kan Anthony Bourdain the popular chef and host of Travel and Living chanel tu... ..

Memang cantik daerah Garut ni...The entire region is picturesque! Suasana country betul which I love so much.

Garut is actually surrounded by 5 volcanoes and one of the volcanoes, Mount Papandayan, is still very active and is also considered very dangerous. Bayangkanlah kat situ ada 5 gunung berapi....The volcanic soil around Garut is definitely very ideal for farming. Thus, the city and surrounding areas are known for their rice fields/ terraces and tea plantations. Apples, avocados, tobacco and oranges are also grown here.

At Garut, we stopped at Cipanas near Mount Guntur which last erupted in 1847 . Dah lama tu tak meletup!

At a hot spring water park near Mount Guntur. The water is warm and it comes from the natural hot spring in the area.

While we were in Garut, we stopped at Sabda Alam Hotel and Resort in Cipanas and there is a Hot Spring Theme Park at the hotel. Water park ni betul2 belakang hotel. There are actually many Hot Springs Resorts and Hotels in this area. Semua resort kat sini cantik2 and ada hot spring...

I did the fish theraphy for about 10 minutes and I noticed that, lagi gemuk kaki kita, lagi byk ikan datang...hehe . Kaki I antara kaki2 favourite ikan2 kat situ

After spending a few hours at the park, it was time to leave... My children said they had the best time..puas hati mandi kat situ because the water is warm and they could stay longer in the water. The natural hot spring water also has many health benefits.

Garut is also famous for leather crafts. The leather crafts here are of very good qualities and are definitely very very cheap. There are lots and lots of shops selling leather products such as jackets, shoes, sandal, wallets and etc.. Memang lumayan kat sini...

Banjir And First Week Of 2011

This week has been an eventful week. A lot has been happening during the first week of 2011. I actually had a week full of laughter, happy and sad moment too. We also experience gloomy days with non stop rains. The heavy rain has not stopped since yesterday. By now flood might have hit the low lying areas all over Terengganu and Kelantan. Pagi ni memang Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan confirm dah banjir!!! I read in the newspaper in Terengganu , so far, 871 people had been evacuated to 18 relief centres and 13 roads had been closed to traffic all over Terengganu.

Monday- was our first day at school after the long school holiday. It was also my son's first day in a secondary school. He was quiet nervous on the first day. He did not buy any food at the school canteen during recess because he was scared of the senior students. He told me "Mama, abang2 senior tu semua dah bermisai!! Takutlah! " By the time we got home at 3.30 p.m, he was really starving. Jenuhlah I dok nasihat dia. The next day, he managed to overcome the fear and told me "Bestlah sekolah mama, banyak makanan dan sedap2!!". Memang tak kuruslah anak I sorang tu..

Also on Monday....we celebrated hubby's 40th birthday.Next year I pulak masuk 4 series... We only had a small celebration at home but it was such a happy moment...

On Tuesday, Mohd. Faizal Muhammad , my ex-student who is one of Malaysian Suzuki cup players dropped by at our staffroom. Four of the Suzuki Cup players from Terengganu are our ex-students! Sekolah pun tumpang sekaki so proud of those boys. Mohd Faizal played during the match between Malaysia and Laos. He is only 21 and left the school just a few years back. So nice of him to come and visit us... . Faizal sgt tinggi sekarang and quite good looking. So proud of him and so touched..We are going to have a small celebration for the four boys in the school next week.

We also had a retirement celebration for one of our colleagues. It was a sad moment indeed. We all love Ming Kwi so much.. Lama betul dia peluk each one of us!Gonna miss you Ming Kwi!!! Ming Kwi started teaching in 1979. I was in standard 1 in 1979! I always thought Ming Kwi is in her forties. She is actually 56 but she looks much younger than her age. She only eat cereals and never join us dalam acara makan2! Makanlah apa pun depan dia, she wouldn't be tempted at all.

Thursday was the most gloomy day . It rained from morning till night and continues till this morning! Semalam , budak2 sekolah tu walked back to the hostel bare footed! Banjir doh!!!!! Hujan sangat2 lebat here in KT! It's wet and cold and I am hungry...Gotta go now..I need to have something to eat..Bought some breakfast this morning.

Hi everyone! ..Been quite busy lately because I am back at work after the long school holiday. At the same time, I am trying to get things organized at home before the school reopens in a few days more. Baru sedar..byknya keje yg tak settle! In school, we have been busy preparing for the students registrations for 2011 academic year. The 2011 academic year will begin on the 3rd of January(instead of 2nd January) for us in the East Coast. Thanks to Malaysian Football team, our holiday is extended to one more day..

So, it's time to get back to school for my children and me too, of course!! Dari kecik sampailah ke tua I kena pegi sekolah it seems.... Next week, my son will be in the secondary school and we had decided that my son and I will be in the same school! My son dgn I satu sekolah dan akan ke sekolah bersama2... I am so glad that I'll be seeing him more often and he'll be under my watchful eyes.

Snow At Empire Shopping Galery

Well, Christmas is celebrated in Malaysia just like everywhere else. At this time of the year, there'll be Christmas sales everywhere.. Orang yang dapat bonus banyak macam Ermayum tu.. bestlah kan. Orang2 lain yang dapat bonus tu happy for you all juga, ok! My bonus is so ciput but Alhamdullilah atas rezeki yang diberi..

Well, weeks before Christmas it is also common that all the shopping malls would put up spectacular Christmas decorations in their bid to attract customers -young and adults. Recently we were at Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya. As soon as we entered the mall, my daughter was very excited when she saw the snow!! Malaysia pun ada salji tau!

Next , I noticed another attraction at ESG - Has anyone tried the Lex Slide????. It's the world's tallest indoor spiral tube slide . The ticket is RM12 per person . Group package would be RM45 for a group of 5.

The slide from the 5th floor to the ground floor would only take 10-15 seconds! 10 seconds of adrenalin rush should be okay with me tapi takpelah...I think I am too old for it! Sesape yang gayat kena pikir 2 kali.... Orang2 yang pakai skirts- tak sesuai!!

Jakarta Bandung 2010 (Part 3)

A few weeks before we flew to Jakarta, my blogger friend from Bandung, Dita, had published some posts which according to her, were specially dedicated to me... In the posts, Dita came up with some suggestions on the food and ole ole that I should get in Bandung. Thank you Dita for those posts!

Well, in one of the posts, Dita also suggested that I try Martabak Bolu. I had been to Bandung 5 times before my recent trip but I had never heard of Martabak Bolu. Usually everytime we went to Bandung, I would only get steamed brownies or banana pastry which I love so much. While I was in Bandung recently, I did asked Pak Suhanda where can I get the best martabak in Bandung and he recommended Martabak San Francisco. Nevertheless, until my last day in Bandung, we were busy ke sana sini..I had to forget about this Martabak San Francisco... Biasanya macam tu la kalau ke sana, banyak mana hari pun macam tak cukup masa je..

On my last day in Bandung however, I found Martabak Bolu Golden Bell at a bakery nearby the hotel where we stayed at and I finally got to taste Martabak Bolu as suggested by Dita in her post.

So here is how the martabak looks like...looks familiar?? Well, it looks like Malaysian Apam Balik...exactly !

BTW, Apam Balik is a pancake like snack with ground peanuts and creamy sweet corn filling. It's one of Malaysians' favourite snacks. Martabak Bolu in Indonesia is slightly thicker and has varieties of fillings - cheese, chocolate, peanut butter and fruits. Martabak Bolu also tastes almost the same as Apam Balik . Memang sedap..!! That day, I bought Martabak Bolu with cheese filling..rasa lemak2 cheese gitu..

Everytime I went to Bandung I would definitely stop at the bakeries and tried all the cakes, buns and pastries.. macam biasa...takde keje lain..makan dan makan...

In one of her posts, Dita had also suggested that I try Klappertaart (coconut cake) Den Haag....Unfortunately, I did not get to try it. Tak berkesempatan.. Maybe next time je lah ye Dita. Bandung is definitely an ideal place for food hunting - memang tempat orang jalan-jalan cari makan atau tempat wisata kuliner dalam bahasa Indonesia.

Jakarta Bandung 2010 (Part 2)

When we were in Jakarta, we brought our children to Taman Safari Cisarua, Bogor. If you are in Jakarta, Bogor is definitely an ideal place for you to escape from the city heat and explore the beautiful countryside of Indonesia. A popular weekend getaway, Bogor is a cool and misty highland surrounded by volcanoes and hills, tea plantations and vegetable farms. Sejuk dan nyaman di sana!

I really enjoyed the breathtaking views along the way to the Safari Park. So beautiful!! Malangnya tak sempat berhenti utk ambil gambar sbb nak cepat2 pegi tempat lain pulak...

Next, you can buy carrots and bananas( to feed the animals ) from the many vendors by the road side leading up to the Safari Park . You should also bargain for half the price..Byk sgt gerai ni sepanjang jalan..

I think one should get the map of the Safari so that you would know where you are and where to go to. The Safari covers a very huge area, you would have to spend one whole day there! That day, we only explored 30% of the amusent park. Tak sempat!

As soon as we paid for the tickets, we entered the gate for the Safari tour. First, you will arrive at herbivore zone and the African wildlife zone, where you will see elephants, giraffes, camels, zebras, hippos Llamas etc. Then, you will be at the zone of beasts of prey where the ferocious lions, tigers, leopards and bears are waiting for you..

The fun doesn’t stop after the safari tour ends. You will arrive at the amusement park zone where you can rest and eat at the food court. There are jet coaster, merry go round, sky lift, haunted mansion, giant wheel, pony/camel/elephant rides and many more attractions. I tak pegi semua tu, tak larat..besides it was drizzling..

Sorryla ye..buat you alls penat tgok those animal photos....My children had fun at the Safari though most of the time it was drizzling. Due to the rain, I had to buy umbrellas at the souvenir shop. We would spend more time at the Safari if the weather was okay. If you come during the monsoon season, I think you really should bring umbrellas or raincoat. FYI, Bogor is also known as Rain City @Kota Hujan and gets more lightning storms per year than any other place on earth!!

Jakarta Bandung 2010 (Part1)

Hi everyone! We are finally home. Home Sweet Home... We had been away from home for about two weeks. Miss Terengganu..miss the food - Nasi Dagang and Keropok lekor..hehe.

Hari tu, we spent a week in Jakarta and Bandung- Cuti2 Indonesia. Then, we spent another week at my mother's house. Thousand apologies because at times, I couldn't leave comments at your blogs while I was away. Ada yang tak sempat especially when I was in Indonesia. Thanks to some blogger friends who dropped by at my blog and bertanya khabar..I appreciate it so much.

Well, during our recent trip to Jakarta, we decided to fly with the Dutch carrier KLM. The airfare was reasonable and berbaloi. So, besides flying with AA and MAS, KLM is another option kalau nak ke Jakarta...

The KLM's flight to Jakarta is actually a connecting flight from Amsterdam. Hari tu, penuh flight with mostly Malaysians who were going for holidays in Jakarta and Bandung. Alhamdulillah, there was no flight delay or any other problem and we reached Jakarta on time! As soon as we stepped out of the arrival hall, I was so relieved when I saw Pak Suhanda (the driver ). Dengan Pak Suhanda, semuanya BISA DIATUR!. We have known Pak Suhanda for many years and would hire him kalau ke sana.

My children were not hungry so they did not touch the food during the flight. Mama lah yang menghabiskan mana yang patut....Camnelah nak lose weight??? BTW, the food was good! (Nasi goreng dgn sate, a cake and mango salad)

When we left the airport, my children suddenly told me, LAPAR!!! So, we headed to Pizza Hut! I like Pizza Hut Indonesia. Sedap dan murah! Before that, in Jakarta, jalan macet sana sini..aduh!!! You really have to bear with the traffic congestion in Jakarta.

I like Pizza Hut Indonesia because there are more choices of food and drinks . Enak Banget! Harganya pun murah...

My children wanted Mix4Fun Cup ni but when they were too full, they changed their mind. Toppingnya kita bubuh sendiri..Pilihan desserts memang banyak kat Pizza Hut Indonesia.

Jalan2 ke Expo Cheng Ho 2010

Last Friday we were in KB during the last day of the Cheng Ho Expo which was held from 21-26 Nov at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu . Dah last day baru free nak pegi..

Cheng Ho Expo (Kelantan -China International Trade Fair) is the first of its kind international trade exhibition, organized by the Kelantan State Government in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, featuring more than 300 companies from countries around the world.

We first visited Cheng Ho's mini museum at the 4th floor of Kelantan Trade Centre just opposite the stadium.

It's really amazing to find out how Cheng Ho managed his fleet of 28000 men . No doubt, at that time the Ming Dynasty had already obtained rich experiences in long distance seafaring and mastered highly advanced maritime technology.

I found out that Cheng Ho reached Pahang and Kelantan during his 4th voyage (out of 7 voyages). He was in Malacca 5 times! Keluar dari situ barulah faham sejarah Cheng Ho in detail. Very interesting! Zaman sekolah belajar dah tak ingat.

Still inside the musuem....The Gold plated Al-Quran(in the frame on the wall) from the 16th century and is shown to the public for the first time. It is worth 70 million US dollar.

During the expo there was also the acrobatic performance by Adili Wuxor a Chinese tightrope walker who was reported to have set a new world record on July 1, 2010. Photos of Adili's performance can be viewed at Kak Chik's blog -Keluargaku Sayang.

Terengganu Museum

Yesterday, I brought my children to the Terengganu State Museum- the setting of the Ulek Mayang Drama series. We first set foot in Terengganu State Museum yesterday and it is only about 15 minutes drive from my house. 4 tahun dok sini..baru first time pegi! Lalu situ dah berapa puluh kali daa...BTW, do you all watch Ulek Mayang on TV3??? My daughter love the drama so much! She used to watch Siti Kelembai before this. I pun suka tengok Siti Kelembai tu...BTW, we went to the museum yesterday to see the Venomous Animal Exhibition at the museum.

Picnic And Class Party

Last week, when my students invited me for a picnic and class party at Kuala Ibai lagoon, I told them it's really not a good idea to have an outdoor activity at this time of the year! It's because the monsoon season is here..and sometimes the rain never seems to stop. Then, my students told me "Don't worry teacher! "Trust us, the weather is going be fine!" Maklumlah musim2 tengkujuh ni..the weather can be so unpredictable..

Fortunately, yesterday (on the day of the class party), the weather turned out to be so fine. It was a beautiful sunny day. You could see the blue sky and the blue sea. I was glad I could make it to the picnic and we had such a great time.. I just did not want to dissapoint my students. Budak2 tu baik2 sangat! The students brought food from home and we also had a BBQ.

UPSR RESULT!

Congratulation to Terengganu for getting the best overall result for UPSR again this year . For 10 consecutive year, Terengganu has scored the best UPSR results in the country. Terengganu also did very well in other public exams and also got the best overall result for PMR and SPM -tahniah org2 Ganu. The best school in Terengganu is a rural school in Setiu. 35 schools, mostly rural schools, emerged top performers in this year's UPSR in Terengganu. Close behind Terengganu for best overall result in the country is the neighbouring state, Kelantan. Congratulation to schools in the East Coast who have been doing so well in all the public exams walaupun kadang2 terpaksa meredah banjir nak pegi exam..

Next, Congratulation to my son, who also scored 5As in the UPSR exam. Alhamdulillah. Teringat...selalu temankan anak I study sambil mak sebok blogging or blogwalking...hehe. Thanks also to some blogger friends dan juga kawan baik saya, An, who had wished for his success in the exam. Timakasih auntie2 semua ye. I must also thank the teachers who had been working so hard to make sure their students achieved good results in the UPSR exam.

BTW, friends, whatever it is, I think we shouldn't put too much pressure on our children or force them to score in their exams. Always remember, they deserve to enjoy their childhood besides being excellent in their studies. It's actually very important for us to teach our children to take keen interest in whatever he is studying, not just for the school exam but also for the exam of life!!

Farewell Hi-Tea

Can't believe that the end of the year is already here. How time flies! Another year of school is at an end. In 2 weeks time, school will be over. Bolehlah ... berehat panjang :) . Two weeks ago we had our school graduation ceremony and two days ago, we had the farewell hi-tea for the upper six students (class of 2010) who will be leaving the school soon.

This year we had the farewell hi-tea at Permai Inn Hotel which is the nearest hotel to our school. It's only a few minutes drive from our school and just a walking distance from Batu Buruk beach.

Nasi Kerabu Biru

2 weeks ago while we were in KB, I helped my MIL prepared Nasi Kerabu Biru using Bunga Telang (also known as Blue Pea/Butterfly Pea or Clitoria Ternatea). We would only make Nasi Kerabu Biru once in a blue moon. Tak rajin nak petik2 bunga. Usually we would only have plain white rice for Nasi Kerabu. One of the reasons is because the flower doesn't have any taste and only gives color to the rice.

To get the indigo coloured juice for the rice, I used a spoon to mash up the petals of Bunga Telang (in a bowl) and added some water. Next, I just got rid of the mashed petals and you'll get the juice. Senang je..Some people would just cook the petals (without mashing the petals) with the the rice in order to get the blue rice.

This is the plant at the backyard of my MIL's house. I dont know if it has other name. My MIL call it bunga nasi kerabu je.. It looks a bit different from Bunga Telang at my neighbour's fence. as it has more petals..

I doubt nasi kerabu sellers would use the flowers to make Nasi Kerabu Biru. Most of them would use artificial colouring . Warna birunya pun lain. Sometimes biru sgt! Takut I nak makan..

I love a complete set of Nasi Kerabu with Solok Lada (chillies stuffed with minced fish and grated coconut), pickled garlic, salted egg, fish crackers, roasted chicken/beef or fried fish

I bought some fresh roselle calyces at a market near my MIL's house in KB. Murah je..Roselle calyces are exported to America and Europe where they are used for food coloring. It has also been used in folk medicine as a diuretic, mild laxative, and treatment for cardiac and nerve diseases and cancer.

Roselle juice is a popular pro-health drink as it contains a lot vitamin C and also other vitamins and minerals. My daughter doesn't really like the taste of Roselle juice because it's a bit sour. So, I added some lychee fruit into the Roselle juice. So, it became Roselle lychee juice and she likes it so much.

SUA RASA at Pulau Warisan

We were at SUA RASA TV9 Carnival at Pulau Warisan yesterday. SUA RASA is an event organized by TV9, one of the biggest free television networks in Malaysia. It's a popular event here in Malaysia and is usually held at most major cities all over the country.

Pulau Warisan (Heritage Island) is a new tourist attraction here in KT. It is actually a small man -made island and is connected to the mainland by some bridges. There is a jetty at Pulau Warisan where tourists can go for a river cruise along the rivers in Terengganu.

From the bridge you get to see the beautiful view of the surrounding area. Petang2 mmg best lepak sini. Pulau Duyung can be seen very clearly from Pulau Warisan as it is now so near! A lot of people came for the SUA RASA concert.

There are lots and lots of stalls and booths but the only thing which caught Sara's attention was the Silky Girl's booth. She bought face powder and a lip gloss and she insisted on paying with her own money! Taknak pakai duit I!

As for me..I was only interested in food..hehe

In the afternoon, it was really hot at Pulau Warisan. My children were asking for drinks and drinks..

When we reached home, I noticed Sarah trying on her new lip gloss..tak sabar2 tu..and she was using her DS's screen as a make up mirror!! Punya la semangat nak bersolek!

Tortura Exhibition

During the 5th day of Hari Raya, we were at the Tortura exhibition at the Kelantan State Museum. Sambil beraya di rumah sanak sedara, kami beraya di muzium juga..

Kelantan State Museum is at Jalan Hospital, Kota Bharu

The exhibition is actually held in Malaysia for the 3rd time. It was held in Malacca (for the 2nd time) last year. Tortura also has been shown in many historical and illustrious cities across Europe, Japan, Argentina and Mexico.

The exhibition features 200 pictures, diagrams and actual instruments of torture and punishment from various parts of Europe during the medieval era . It depicts the disturbing, yet captivating methods and materials used by those in authority over citizens of different races, religions, languages, social status, gender and opinions from the norm. The purpose of the exhibition is to create awareness- against the violation of human rights

The grim, dark and gloomy atmosphere inside the museum as visitors watch the horror the victims could have gone through

As you walked into the exhibition hall, you would hear the eerie Gothic Music. I memang allergic dengan music Gothic tu...Seram you!!!! Dahlah gelap! The thought of seeing the 'actual' instruments being used to torture people is really disturbing...I was actually quite nervous as I walked inside the museum..I ni memang penakut!!!

A black cloaked figure greeted us at the entrance of an exhibition room. Saje je dorang letak situ nak bagi kita terkejut!

Nevertheless, my children and their cousins showed no sign of fear at all. Riang gembira je tengok pameran tu! Siap lari2 ke sana- sini main cak2 kat patung tu.. As for me, I know the black cloaked figure isn't real but still takut jugak when I walked passed by it!

Hi everyone! It has been 3 weeks since my last post! Sorry cause I am a bit late in updating my blog after the Hari Raya holidays. I decided to take a break from blogging for a while so that I would have more time for my son who had just finished his UPSR exam. It was my first time preparing my child for a major exam. I think I was more nervous than him!

For Muslim friends...I hope you all are enjoying your Hari Raya celebration wherever you are. Today is the 19th day of Syawal and Hari Raya is still very much celebrated everywhere. Some people are also celebrating Hari Raya Puasa 6!! I jugak lah yg tak habis puasa 6 lagi tapi dah tumpang beraya. Two days ago, we had Raya Puasa 6 celebration here in our small staffroom.

Well, this year we spent the first two days of Hari Raya at my parent's home in Shah Alam. On the third day of Hari Raya, my children begged me to bring them to the National Zoo. So, kami beraya kat Zoo Negara juga!! Next, on the fourth day of Hari Raya, we were at my husband's parents' home in Kota Bharu. Alhamdulillah, we got to meet all our family members from both sides (my side and hubby's side).

During Hari Raya, food has always been the most important thing. For me lah!.. Mesti nak makan sedap2! I am always so greedy for food during Hari Raya. So, I would make sure that I got to eat all my favourite food on the special day. Here are some photos of the festive food we had during Hari Raya

RAYA MENU IN SELANGOR

Usually on the first day of Hari Raya we would have Briyani Rice . The dishes are Acar, Kari Kambing and Ayam Masak Merah .

The making of Ketupat and Lontong for Hari Raya is something of the past. My mom doesn't make them anymore nowadays. I really wanted to have Ketupat and Lontong so I bought them..Seketul ketupat seringgit regenye..seketul lontong RM4

My uncle gave us some lemang. I suka sgt lemang! Lemang is made of glutinous rice and coconut milk and cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick

Mini cup dodol from Malacca . Sedap sgt dodol Melaka ni! It is made with coconut milk, sugar, and rice flour and is sticky, thick and sweet.

I like everything traditional..but Mr. Hubby loves cakes. So cake is a must have for him..His favourite cake is Swiss Roll

My favourite cookies this year is Semperit Telur Rebus. My friend in Kelantan made this Samperit Telur Rebus. One of the main ingredients in making the cookies is the hard boiled eggs.

The name of the cookies is Dahan Rapuh. Made in Terengganu nih. It's popular among my colleagues. It tastes like Batang Buruk . The name Dahan Rapuh sounds better than Batang Buruk, right???? I have never heard bout it before..

Ramadhan Buffet @ Felda Residence KT

I guess everyone is in Raya mood already. Today is actually our last day of school before the Hari Raya Holidays which begins tomorrow until 18th of September. Pejam celik pejam celik dah nak abis tahun dah pun. Sekejap je masa berlalu. In school, we are all busy with the trial exams and my students are now sitting for their last paper of the STPM TRIAL exam. My son pulak is going to sit for UPSR right after Hari Raya. To all teachers, Happy Holidays ye!! When the school re-opens we will be busy with the REAL exams pulak.

Well, last week, we had our Iftar at Felda Residence in KT. I really love the scrumptious buffet spread at Felda Residence ni...Sedap sgt (ikut tekak I lah ye). I actually prefer Ramadhan buffet served at Felda Residence than other hotels in KT. Yg lain2 I tak berapa sikit.... To me Ramadhan buffet at Felda Residence is the best! Takde apa yg tak sedap and it's only RM45! Tempatnya pun tak crowded because the tables are limited (tak berapa banyak). For 2010 Ramadhan buffet, the hotel has 4 different menus to choose from. That day, I decided to choose the one with nasi Mandy, ketupat sotong and roasted lamb. Those 3 items are my favourite!!!!

Hi everyone! It's already the 20th day of Ramadhan! How time flies! Can't believe that in 10 days, we will be celebrating Hari Raya. To all Muslim blogger friends, semoga puasa dan ibadahnya terus berjalan lancar, ya..

Last weekend, we were in KB again. KB town was a bit crowded last week. A lot of people were flocking the shopping complexes and malls to do their Hari Raya shopping. There was heavy traffic just everywhere!

On Friday night, after performing Tarawih prayers near the stadium in KB, we went to the night market infront of Siti Khadijah market. Lama dah tak ke situ. We are done with our Raya shopping....so jalan2 cuci mata sahaja. Well, the night market in KB was so alive and happening..banyak orang, banyak barang!!! Everything is so cheap!

At a stall selling dried squid strips which are roasted in an open fire - a delicious snack!.

The next day, we went to Pasir Mas to buy Akok at our favourite stall. Infact, every week we would go there just to get the delicious Akok. Alang2 dah sampai Pasir Mas, next, we headed straight to Rantau Panjang near the Thai border.

On the way back to KT, I noticed the 'welcome home' banner in KB. So, anak-anak di perantauan..mak ayah dah tunggu di kampung tu! Selamat Balik kampung!

I love gardening but never really have time for it. Photos of flowers and beautiful gardens (especially English gardens) at some of my favourite blogs have always inspired me to start gardening. I dream of having a garden but it's quite impossible to have one at the moment because we never stay at a place for a long time - selalu pindah-randah cam Nomad. A few days ago, while I was visiting MADELIEF ( my favourite blog), I came across a set of photos of lush and beautiful hanging baskets. I love those hanging baskets flowers so much !

Then, yesterday, I was at Pasar Tani and saw this healthy looking hanging pot flowers. Gumuk pokok ni but it's not for sale..

I bought this striped Petunia (I think it's a Petunia-correct me if I'm wrong) infront of SACC mall Shah Alam(at the main entrance) about a month ago-Pegi situ nak beli baju anak sebenarnya tapi pokok bunga pun I bawak balik. So, it came all the way from Shah Alam tu!

Bought some fertilizer and pesticides to make sure that those plants will continue to survive.. but I don't really trust myself..hehe. I am just not Mrs. Greenfinger...

Iftar Menus From Friends' Blogs

Here is another post about food! Can't help it... Most of the days during Ramadan, our conversation at work would be about food. Bukan apa...usually our colleagues would be asking for suggestions on what to cook for Iftar(fast breaking) . Nak masak apa ye buka puasa petang ni ?- would be a common question and it resulted in a long conversation about food when everybody started responding. Another favourite topic among us would be about losing weight during Ramadan. We'll be asking each other, berapa kilo dah turun??- how many kilos have you lost..?? as Ramadan can be the occasion to lose weight and shed some pounds.(if you are careful of what you eat)

I also realized that this Ramadan, I tend to visit foodie blogs more often than before (obviously I ni kaki makan). The reasons are - it would give me ideas on what to cook for Iftar ( macamlah rajin sgt memasak) or what to buy at the Ramadhan Bazaar (yang ni tersangatlah rajin).I also love to see the Iftar menus at our friends' blogs in other parts of the country or in other parts of the world.

I would like to share with you some of what our blogger friends had for their Iftar . Yesterday, while I was visiting Nana's blog - Something To Smile About Everyday, I found this yummylicious looking jelly in her Iftar Menu. Nana is a Malaysian who has been living in Japan for four years! Everyday, she would share her Iftar menu from her home in Japan.

It's called Warabi Mochi which you eat with Kinako (sweet toasted soya bean flour).I would really love to try this Warabi Mochi. Geram tengok Jelly tu Nana!

This is Bubur Lambuk Pedas (Hot Herbs Rice Porridge) which I found at Mak Isah's blog- Blind Perfect. Mak Isah is a blogger friend from Sarawak. Seriously I have never heard of this Bubur Lambuk Pedas. Tak penah tengok beb! I wonder how does it tastes like. Below are some of the ingredients used in making Bubur Lambuk Pedas as described by Mak Isah.

Skin of a cow's feet (kulit kaki lembu).

And...this is Bubur Lambuk Terengganu which is a favourite here and also a favourite for Iftar... Some of the ingredients for this rice porridge are fish, polyganum (daun kesum), reddish colour fern(pucuk paku merah), turmeric leaf (daun kunyit) and black pepper. I like this Terengganu rice porridge very much. I first tasted it 3 years ago when I moved here to KT. It is absolutely delicious!

It seems that there are many versions of Bubur Lambuk (rice porridge) all over Malaysia. How interesting!

Bazaar Ramadhan di Kota Bharu

Yesterday, we were in Kota Bharu. I really miss my mother in law's home cooked food...Rindu masakan ibu mertuaku yg sedap2 tu...As usual we would stop at the Ramadhan bazaar near the stadium in Kota Bharu. I think it's one the most happening Ramadhan bazaar I have ever been to. Meriah sgt2...At the bazaar, I think there are more than a hundred stalls and you can find lots and lots of mouth watering food for the breaking of fast. Not only you can find Kelantanese food at the bazaar, Rojak Pecel Jawa pun ada tau!!!

Butir Nangka

Eveytime we go back to KB during Ramadhan, I would ask my mother in law to make Butir Nangka. I like it so much! It's made of rice flour and coconut milk. It's called Butir Nangka because it looks like biji nangka (jackfruit seeds).

Apa2 pun, I must remind myself that Ramadhan is not an eating festival... Overeating is bad for our health. Instead of eating more, we should concentrate on feeding those who do not have much food. Peringatan utk diri saya yg selalu rambang mata bila pegi bazaar Ramadhan....

Empire Shopping Gallery

Last weekend, I went back to my hometown. Balik jap before the fasting month...With very limited time and so many places to go, we rushed from one place to another and from one shopping complex to another. Most shopping complexes were so crowded with people and there was heavy traffic everywhere...

We also stopped at the newly opened Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang..kat sebelah Subang Parade tu je.

At the main entrance at ESG, we saw kittens for sale! Cats are definitely much cheaper in the East Coast! When we went inside, we saw more and more cats! No wonderlah..ada pertandingan kucing rupanye.There was a Cat Show. Once we saw the cats, we had totally forgotten about shopping ! My children would go crazy when they see cats..Me too..We are so fond of cats!!!

As I have promised, I am back with the photos of Tuanku's visit to our school last Saturday (during the SS78 Family Day).

A month before, the preparation of the SS78 family day was the school's top priority. There were so many things to be done! We had series of meetings, the protocol briefings, gotong royong, the rehearsels and etc. I was in charge of the students' stage performance that day. When I was informed that I was supposed to prepare a group of students for a live singing performance for the royal couple, I was actually laughing at myself..Who?? Me?? I can't even sing! Nursery rhyme pun tak lepas..hehehe. 2 days later, we quickly carried out an audition and 5 students were selected. Thank god! One of the students can sing very well and she made my job seemed so easy. Infact all five of them are very talented indeed.

I chose the songs and the list of songs was submitted to Tuanku's officers to be approved. I was with my students at the backstage when they performed that day and I was soooo nervous. Kecut perut I kat belakang stage tu as if I yg nak nyanyi! I always reminded my students to be cool always ( I sendiri pun tak cool sebenarnya) and not to forget their lyrics!!! After the performance, I felt so relieved. Lega sgt2 rasanya and I told my students they should really be proud of themselves. They don't have to be superstars or to be as famous as Siti Nurhaliza to perform infront of the King and Queen! I am so proud of my students that day and now I miss watching them singing..

Then, we were told that Permaisuri (Queen Lady Consort) was impressed with our students' performance and she would like to attend our school's 'Talentime' in the future (if we were to have one!).

Alhamdulillah, everything went well that day. Kalut jugak I sebenarnya hari tu..The whole thing is such a memorable experience to all of us....

Finally... hari yang ditunggu2 telah pun tiba, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah (the constitutional head-of-state of Malaysia ) and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nor Zahirah were in our school this afternoon to officiate the school's Alumni's Gathering. Tuanku was a student in the school and he is from Class of 78. For the event, I was in charge of the students performance for the King and Queen! I'll tell you more about his visit to the school in my next post, ok. I dah tau apa dia lagu favourite Tuanku and his caller ring tone. My student ada nyanyi lagu kegemaran Tuanku. I also have lots of photos that I would like to share with all of you.

For the past few days I have been quite busy- sebok dan menyebok sana sini preparing for the event. By the time I got back from school, I would be very exhausted and minggu ni mmg dapur pun tak berasap. We have been eating outside and a few times at this seafood restaurant at Kuala Ibai which is near my house... The food served at the restaurant is quite good (to me lah..) and the price is very reasonable.. Most people go there for the grilled seafood. The seafood is really fresh and not bad at all.....

Photography Exhibition

Just last week, a photography contest exhibition was held at our school. It was something that I looked forward to because I just love photography. The exhibition features the award winning photos of a photography contest organised by CIMB foundation( CIMB is Malaysia's second largest financial services provider) . For the photography contest, participants are required to take a creative photo of a cause on community development, sports or education and write a short essay of about 100 words explaining why the cause deserves funding from CIMB Foundation. In the contest, one of our students Ronny Izwani Husni emerged as the first prize winner for school category (at the national level). We are so proud of him..

First prize photo by one of our students - Ronny Izwani who walked away with RM10,000! The photo is simple but very meaningful and touching.The photo was shot at an Old Folk's home here in KT. I have been to the old folk's home a few times and know most of the inmates.

For the contest, Ronny took a compelling photo and wrote an essay about the need to improve an old folk’s home located in Kuala Terengganu by providing better facilities for the comfort of the residents. He walked away with a cash prize of RM10,000 and the school gets RM15,000 in which the money has to be spent on charity projects for the old folk's home. In school, another teacher and I are in charge of the charity projects at the Old Folk's Home.

Due to our student's achievement in the photography contest, CIMB Malaysia had sponsored a photography workshop for our students and I was so lucky to be able to join my students at the workshop.

At the workshop-we were taught on how to edit the photo using photoshop. Rashidi, the photographer showed us his various lenses and of course they are expensive!

In conjunction with the event, CIMB also presented a year's sponsorship of the The Star's newspapers in Education to the school principal.

News about the event was in Star Newspaper the next day.

As for me ,the teacher, I never take part in any photography contest but I am so happy with the Glam Blogger award which I got from Hidayah- One Day At A Time. Thank you very much Hidayah. I really appreciate it. Dapat award kat blog ni pun dah cukup happy. I would like to extend the Glam Blogger Award to three friendly bloggers with impressive photoblogs . They are Nat, Biana and Cheryl.
