Jakarta Bandung Part 4



Well, I am sorry.... I am still not done with my Jakarta Bandung Trip entries. Kira ni Postcards From Indonesia lah ye.... Actually, I have a lot of photos to share but I am a bit slow when it comes to editing my photos and also my post. Suka edit sana edit sini.. and it seems that most of my posts remain as drafts, forever.


This time around, I want to share with all of you photos I took at Garut, a popular tourist destination near Bandung. Garut is about 2 hours drive from Bandung city and is located in a mountainous area. Thus, the weather in Garut is a bit cooler than in other parts of Indonesia. In the 1930s, Garut was a favored hill station of the Dutch. I actually found out about Garut after watching Anthony Bourdain's trip to Garut on You Tube . Tau kan Anthony Bourdain the popular chef and host of Travel and Living chanel tu... ..

Memang cantik daerah Garut ni...The entire region is picturesque! Suasana country betul which I love so much.

Garut is actually surrounded by 5 volcanoes and one of the volcanoes, Mount Papandayan, is still very active and is also considered very dangerous. Bayangkanlah kat situ ada 5 gunung berapi....The volcanic soil around Garut is definitely very ideal for farming. Thus, the city and surrounding areas are known for their rice fields/ terraces and tea plantations. Apples, avocados, tobacco and oranges are also grown here.

At Garut, we stopped at Cipanas near Mount Guntur which last erupted in 1847 . Dah lama tu tak meletup!

At a hot spring water park near Mount Guntur. The water is warm and it comes from the natural hot spring in the area.


While we were in Garut, we stopped at Sabda Alam Hotel and Resort in Cipanas and there is a Hot Spring Theme Park at the hotel. Water park ni betul2 belakang hotel. There are actually many Hot Springs Resorts and Hotels in this area. Semua resort kat sini cantik2 and ada hot spring...




I did the fish theraphy for about 10 minutes and I noticed that, lagi gemuk kaki kita, lagi byk ikan datang...hehe . Kaki I antara kaki2 favourite ikan2 kat situ

After spending a few hours at the park, it was time to leave... My children said they had the best time..puas hati mandi kat situ because the water is warm and they could stay longer in the water. The natural hot spring water also has many health benefits.


Garut is also famous for leather crafts. The leather crafts here are of very good qualities and are definitely very very cheap. There are lots and lots of shops selling leather products such as jackets, shoes, sandal, wallets and etc.. Memang lumayan kat sini...

    TK, i definitely will keep Garut in mind. me and family members are planning to go there coming April.

    keropok kulit lembu tu, i 1st jumpa kat restoran padang kat amcorp mall. belum ready nak makan lagi :)

    Kulit lembu to me is leather. Hahaha...
    Kulit lembu = food? Hmmm, aiyaa, I will pass! I will rather eat raw fish, any time! ;)
    The place cantiknya. I love the view of kampung life too. And the pool with warm water is so nice! The kids must have enjoyed themselves very much!

    I had many entries yet to be posted too, some of them are months delayed... but no problem, the story will never go "basi" he..he..

    The view is splendid.. I love paddy fields(maklum org kedah), it's more beautiful coz of the mountanious background & it looks cooling too.

    Mama kita dah sampai Garut tu. To visit orphans that her organisation is sponsoring.... Oh, Garut is also full of avocado orchards. Harvest is around May. Aahh...avocado juice (jus alpukat) is divine. yummmy.... purrr...meow!

    I've eaten plenty of Dodol Garut, bought from an Indonesian shop when I was in Sydney, melepas gian nak makan dodol. Didn't know it is a name of a district in Indo. =)

    Esh- Hi Esh! Timakasih singgah sini. Garut ni jauh sikit tau.Psl keropok kulit lembu tu, I pun tak biasa lagi makan. Pnahlah makan dulu2 skali je.Dah lupa camne rasanya.

    Maya Amir- Keropok kulit lembu tu akak pun kurang arif bagaimana rasanya sebab pnah makan skali je. Rasa rangup tapi kurang lemak..mcm keropok yg kurang ikan. Lebih kurang begitulah. Masa pegi Bandung baru2 ni mmg tak try pun. Tak beli pun..

    Nana- u r so rite..kulit lembu is leather!!
    Kulit lembu yg buat keropok ni is bahagian dalam. Kulit nipis putih tu. Dijemur and dijadikan keropok.
    Kulit luar yg keras ada bulu2 tu dibuat beg..Semua baagian lembu is not wasted kan..

    I Am Amsterdam- samalah kita..but I pulak rasa mcm post tu dah lama, malas pulak rasa nak post.
    Masa kecik2 I tak penah tgok sawah padi. Bila belajar geografi..dok imaginela macam mana. Sampai skrg everytime balik kelantan and nampak sawah padi i jadi excited semacam. Hubby selalu gelakkan I..

    LadyOfLeisure- Sice dok Tganu I byk makan keropok ikan je..so keropok kulit lembu tu I rasa pelek je tapi maybe utk org yg dah biasa dorang mesti suka keropok tu.

    Cat In Sydney- Tu la..I dok baca kat blog someone dia kata byk avocado kat sana tapi pegi sana I had totally forgotten about it. Sedap kan jus alpukat, yummy!!!

    Cantik view tu...sawah padi menghijau...bukit. budak2 dpt mandi-manda mmg seronok.
    Garut...tempat brg kulit ni kut yg pak supir bagitau kami kalau nak cari brg kulit tp bila dia cakap jauh sikit..keluar dr Bandung tu yg kami tak pergi.

    First time heard of Garut. If it wasn't from you, I don't think I'll know where Garut is :)

    And I was about to say the same thing as esh. Saw the keropok kulit lembu at the same restaurant in amcorp. Very intriguing. But haven't had the guts to try it yet. Hehe.

    Mamasya- Dr kali pertama kami ke Bandung, pak supir tu dah suggest tapi sbb jauh kami lupakan je la..Kali ni baru berpeluang sbb rasa nak explore kawasan lain pulak. Kami asyik2 ke outlet je sebelum tu, tak ke mana2.
