Hayaki Kopitiam

If you are in Kota Bharu and is looking for a Kopitiam, I would like to recommend Hayaki Kopitiam in Jalan Kebun Sultan.. It's actually one of my favourite kopitiams and don't worry, it's a Halal Kopitiam....

For blogger friends outside Malaysia, in case you are wondering what is a kopitiam.... A Kopitiam is a traditional breakfast and coffee shop which can be found everywhere in Malaysia. It's the Malaysian version of Starbuck and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. A kopitiam mostly offer authentic local coffee brews, grilled toast served with butter and kaya (a local version of jam made from coconut milk and eggs) and soft boiled eggs. Some kopitiams have extended menus where local breakfast, lunch and dinner meals are served.

Hayaki Kopitiam may not have the best coffee in town but they do have some tasty desserts and toasts. At Hayaki , you can also have Kelantan specialities like Nasi Dagang and Nasi Berlauk besides the usual breakfast food like Nasi Lemak and Mee Hoon . They also serve western food such as chicken chop and french fries. Nevertheless, I normally go to Hayaki for the desserts, toasts and soft boiled eggs. I know that most people go to a Kopitiam for the coffee but not me..I am not addicted to coffee...

Hayaki kopitiam is opened 24 hours and ada WiFi .

The kopitiam also gets A grade for cleanliness.

Everytime I go to Hayaki I would try something that I haven't tried before and snapped the photos of the food..that's how I got those photos..Makanan2 kat bawah tu bukan makan sekali tau..

Some of the desserts I like to have in Hayaki Kopitiam

ICE MANGO ROCK- I just love mango so much, so anything with mango cools me down! Ice Mango Rock is actually ice-blended mango . Sodap! Ice Mango Rock ni memang rock! I always enjoyed my mango moment in Hayaki.

SOY JELLY LONGAN. This is actually soya bean curd with longan fruit . I love this as well because I love soya bean curd ... It's a healthy dessert and it's just a small portion..

PULUT MANGO- This is glutinous rice with mango and coconut milk. It's a bit sweet but really tasty. This is my daughter's favourite. Sometimes I also made this at home..

CENDOL TAPAI- Cendol with fermented tapioca. Nowadays, it's very hard to find Cendol with Tapai but you can certainly have it at Hayaki . Sorry tapai tersembunyi di balik cendol..

Some other common food and drinks that you can find in a kopitiam.

Sometimes I ordered Bandung with cincau..Lagi sedap

At Hayaki there are many types of toasts-the Egg toast, Thick toast , French toast and Roti Kawinlah..macam-macam jenis roti ada..

This is my favourite ...It's called Thick Toast. I suka rotinya yg tebal tu but I couldn't finish the whole thing..

Of course there is special ABC with ice-cream but I prefer not to have the ice-cream that day..Counting calories..lahkan..

Kuih Lapis and Kuih Talam pun ada.... some Malaysian traditional delicacies . Kuihnya pun lemak berkrim..very nice

Besides Hayaki Kopitiam there are other popular kopitiams in KB such as the White House Kopitiam which has been in KB for 60 years and Kemaman Kopitiam which is the branch of the popular Kopitiam in Kemaman Trengganu. Out of the 3 kopitiams, I think Kemaman Kopitiam serves the best coffee.. but Hayaki has the best toasts and desserts..

So dear friends, suka pegi kopitiam tak? Kopitiam kat mana yg best and you all suka??

  14. The beautiful photos shot by TK have described how wonderful the foods and drinks served there. If I have just enough cash to buy only one, I will take the ICE MANGO ROCK, because I like mango very much. To much mango not good for children's brain, so let just dad taste it alone :)
